signs: Rio Motel

Rio Motel

Next to MacArthur BART is the Rio Motel. The sign is in excellent shape. It's got some classic elements of signs of the era: an arrow, the wobbly cloud shape, and a pen stroke font for "The Rio". If it weren't for the modern replacement windows, this looks like it could be the 50s.

What will happen to the sign as BART demos these buildings?

We should take it and move it to uh, downtown oakland somewhere. Or leave it in Temescal above one of the shops. Wb cool.

Who owns the sign/motel now?

It'd great if it could be saved.

Planning and Zonings lists Pravin L Patel as the current owner.
